Practices to support the sacral chakra

The sacral chakra is a few centimetres below your belly button and is traditionally associated with the colour orange.

This is the area in the body that is affected by shocks, abuse or trauma of any kind. Many of the issues which arise in people’s lives are due to suppressed shock or trauma which has never been released from the sacral chakra. Orange, the colour associated with the sacral chakra, can be really healing for shock or trauma and can help to free the body and psyche of old or long-buried trauma.

The sacral is your creative centre and is connected with your feelings and emotions. It is also connected to your relationships with others and how you relate to intimacy. 

Blocks in this chakra might show up through:

  • Inability to receive
  • Feeling creatively uninspired
  • Escaping through addictions or other patterns/behaviours
  • Fearing ridicule or shame for expressing yourself creatively
  • Holding on to past traumas
  • Disconnecting from your life force
  • Feeling easily overwhelmed
  • Feeling disconnected from your passion and sensuality

Can you relate to any of these?

A few practices that can support your sacral chakra are:

  • Wearing or having orange things around you.
  • Eating real/natural orange foods such as oranges, squash, papaw, apricots, lentils etc.
  • Connecting with your creativity in a way that works for you.
  • Getting help to release the traumas and heal yourself.
  • Uncovering patterns and behaviours around receiving and your ability to receive.
  • Allowing yourself to feel your feelings.

If you would like to go deeper, I am running an online workshop on the sacral chakra on Saturday 20th June, from 11am – approx 1.30pm (UK). In it we will dive deeper into connecting with the sacral chakra, through colour visualisations, meditations and journaling prompts. Plus there will be space within the workshop for you to create, tapping into your sacral chakra. So you will need to have a creative tool of your choice e.g. paints and paper, or perhaps a journal and pen.

I will guide you throughout, holding a space where you can connect to what is coming up for you in your life. I will also share some tools and practices to support you, including from the Colour Mirrors system.

Some of the things this particular workshop will support you with are:
– Connecting to your creativity and flow.
– Feeling into where your emotions might be stuck and how you can support yourself to release them.
– Connecting to how you receive and opening to receive more.
– Gently connecting to anything holding you back in this area.

It will take place on Zoom and you can join with your camera on or off. If you can’t make it, no worries, everyone that signs up will receive a recording and digital workbook of the prompts.
